Santa Fe Botanical Garden is pleased to present Origami in the Garden, a large-scale outdoor sculpture exhibition created by Santa Fe artist Kevin Box. The exhibitions opens in Santa Fe Botanical Garden at Museum Hill on April 25. Motivated by the impermanence of paper, Box pioneered a new method of capturing its delicate nature in the more permanent medium of metal, (utilizing lost wax casting and fabrication techniques.) Origami is the art of paper folding. A single blank page inspired each sculpture in the Origami in the Garden collection. All creations feature Box’s own compositions as well as collaborations with internationally respected origami masters, such as Dr. Robert J. Lang.
“What inspires me about origami is its simple metaphor for life. We all begin with a blank page, what we choose to do with it is what matters and the possibilities are endless.”
– Kevin Box
