CHILDREN'S HOLIDAY CRAFT WORKSHOP
From the 2009 December 6 Workshop

Hmm … should I make a potpourri bowl for my Gramma or a snow globe for me? Hey look! I can make a wall calendar for Dad and then decorate a grapevine wreath for my bedroom door. Now those pinecone bird feeders look like fun and over there is a Christmas gift I can make for Tabby or Ruff. Those lime thingies – pomanders Mom says – look neat and smell good and those pretty decorated wooden plaques would look nice on my big sister’s dormitory wall.

Oooo, Aunt Anna loves plants. I might make one of those cups with the flower bulbs and my brother would like one of those decorated pinecones. How does a kid pick only three of these crafts to make? And, I have to be sure to swing by the cookie table before they’re out of everything…are those chocolate sandwich cookies? Decisions, decisions.
Children's Holiday Workshop 2009

These thoughts may well have been present in the minds of the 85+ children who attended the Santa Fe Botanical Garden’s Children’s Holiday Craft Workshop, held on December 6 at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center.

As always, the workshop was abuzz with happy children, parents and delighted volunteers, marking one of Santa Fe Botanical Garden’s premier family events.

The Children’s Holiday Workshop is always free and always fun. Next year – Sunday, December 5, 2010 - will be our tenth annual workshop and we plan to make it extra-special!

The Santa Fe Botanical Garden thanks Ann Mumford for her generosity in sponsoring this event. In addition, a special thank you goes to the creative and generous volunteers who donate and gather craft materials, show the children how-to,bake cookies, supervise refreshments, answer questions, organize everything from setup to cleanup and generally make this event possible.

Co-chairs: Jeanne Gozigian and Janice Tucker; Craft volunteers: Jan Barbo, Susan Clough, Carol Danielson, Francesca Davies, Jan Denton, Donna Dreschel, Claudia Dunitz, Debby Everett, Sue Fenimore, Barbara Goede, Tom Hill, Akasha Holmes, Sara Jordan, Susi Keller, Arabelle Luckhardt, Del Marien, Laura Markley, Erika Oliver, Josie Ozelton, Gwynne Pardington, Colette Pogue, Cristina Salvador, Kate Smith, Denise Troy, and Helen Woody.
