Shakespeare in the Garden returns with Romeo & Juliet, the famous tragedy widely regarded as one of the most evocative and influential of all William Shakespeare’s works. Now held in June, Shakespeare in the Garden has delighted audiences for the past two seasons with powerful performances against the backdrop of the Botanical Garden and the setting sun. Presented by Santa Fe Classic Theater, and directed by Patrick Briggs, this masterpiece will be staged in association with the Santa Fe Botanical Garden and The Shakespeare Guild.

Join us for the opening night reception and performance! The Capulet’s Ball will feature an Elizabethan buffet with champagne reception at 5:30pm, followed by the performance at 7pm.

Performances begin promptly at 7pm. Please allow 10 minutes to walk from the parking area to the amphitheater. The Botanical Garden is open for picnicking at 5:30pm.

Bring Your Own Picnic
Prior to the performance, you’re invited to bring a picnic to enjoy amid the beauty of the Orchard Garden at the Santa Fe Botanical Garden. Neither glass containers nor pets (except registered service dogs) are allowed in the Botanical Garden. Gates will open for picnicking at 5:30pm. Food and drink, except water, are not permitted in the amphitheater. Please “leave no trace,” and pack your own trash out.

Ticketing: Tickets to this event are processed through Brown Paper Tickets. If you have an issue, or did not receive your “Print at Home” tickets, please contact contact Brown Paper Ticket at 1-800-838-3006. Tickets to Shakespeare in the Garden are non-refundable.
Box Office: The Box Office is located at the welcome kiosk at the Santa Fe Botanical Garden, and opens one hour prior to performance time. If you are having trouble purchasing tickets, please contact Brown Paper Ticket at 1-800-838-3006. For performance information call (505) 989-7204.
Seating Arrangement: The Ojos y Manos Amphitheater has approximately 134 seats, with 30 seats designated as a Premium (A) seating. Seating within the A and B sections are general admission.
Weather Policy and Instructions: Please check santafebotanicalgarden.org and Facebook for weather updates. The performances will hold for rain. However, if inclement weather requires cancellation of the performance, there are no refunds. If cancellation of a performance is required, the box office will attempt to accommodate attendees at another Romeo & Julietperformance of their choice. We cannot guarantee that all requests can be fulfilled. Rescheduling ticket requests should send an email to email@example.com with the ticket purchasers name and dates preferred.
Wheelchair Accessibility: The Santa Fe Botanical Garden’s main pathways are ADA compliant and wheelchair access is available. Ushers will assist with directions and any accommodations. Please note that wheelchairs are not provided at our venue. Limited handicapped parking near the Visitors’ Center is available at the Santa Fe Botanical Garden on a first-come, first-served basis.
Food & Drink: To ensure that the Botanical Garden does not attract pests that could harm our plantings, only water may be taken into the amphitheater. Please, no glass. Picnicking in the Botanical Garden is open each night before the performance, beginning at 5:30pm.
Courtesies: Please remember to turn off all cell phones and other electronic devices prior to the performance.
Photography: No flash photography is permitted during the performance.
Outdoor Theater Dress: Wear what makes you feel comfortable. June evenings can start off warm, but can become cooler after sunset. Be prepared for cooler weather.
Late Arrival: Latecomers will be seated by the ushers at intermission. No seating is allowed while actors are performing on stage.
