Join botanical artist Helen Byers in this exciting 2-day workshop to sharpen your drawing skills along with your knowledge of succulent plants. Through demonstrations and individualized instruction, Helen will guide participants in a technique using colored pencil and watercolor to render detailed forms, textures, and colors. Our goal will be to make detailed studies of plant parts, rather than finished pieces.
The first morning (Saturday 24th) we will set up in the Pavilion and then fan out into the garden for an hour of field
sketching. After a lunch break, we will return to the Pavilion for a demonstration by Helen and begin drawing from live, potted specimens (which participants may later take home).
The second day (Sunday 25th) we will continue working in the Pavilion.

All skill levels welcome. (Ages 16 & up.)
Helen Byers is an award-winning botanical artist and educator who has taught at Ghost Ranch (Abiquiu), Tower Hill Botanic Garden (near Boston), Tin Mountain Conservation Center (NH), and the O’Keeffe Welcome Center (Abiquiu). Her botanical works have been included in international and national exhibitions of the American Society of Botanical Artists; the Horticultural Society of New York, Filoli Estates (CA), and the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, among others.
